June : A Summer Rhythm
Summer begins…now! This is even funny that I’m overly excited for summer because in years past I have dreaded every part of summer heat in Arkansas except in the event we get to float a river. But this year, I know of 2 little boys who are entranced with the idea of swimming and fishing I can’t wait to set our cadence to the sights and sounds of nature and all its surprises because I know the abundance of joy this will bring to these little ones. And the same joy I will have by facilitating this splash and play.
My work at the office and in real estate during summertime gets a little quicker pace which I am always thankful for. Which means I need to just be prepared in planning our summer days to not allow this time slip away without embracing the seasonal shift and the freedom of summertime through a child’s eyes. My hope is that, our days together will be filled of slower methodical rhythms were curiosity and imaginary play are free to roam wherever it leads. Without the need to fill with organized functions as much as planed creative\explorative\discovering lengths of time to allow growing minds to expand and learn by imagining and play.
Our Summertime Rhythm will look like this. Hopefully doing one or two of these things throughout the week.
Picnics to the Neighborhood pond. Farmer’s Market on Saturday. Working/harvesting the garden. Visiting our Land and playing in the creek. Local Splash Pad. Watercolor Painting. Starting the Good Gospel. Doing a lesson or 2 a week of Teach Your Child To Read… Blueberry Picking. Our annual trip to Colorado. Summer Library Reading. Spending time at our Cabin. And Play dates with friends/bbqs.
7 days in a week, and spend 3 or 3.5 days with the boys. The boys go to daycare the other days. There are 12 weeks of summer left, I usually count between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
