4 Ways to ADD Spring to prep your home for selling.
…Or for your own enjoyment! My experience in Real Estate the past 12 years has led me to realize that we are truly creatures of emotion and when all the senses are positively touched, there is a happy soul. The same applies when you are wanting to sell your home, the goal is to beautifully reach all 5 senses and you help the buyer fall in love with your space. Ultimately, the best action you can take is to clean and declutter extensively. However to really set the mood, here are my tips for spring and summer time prepping your home to sell.
Replace with fresh landscape. Get rid of your dead plants that may have said good bye during the cold months and replace with new live ones. Out with the old and in with the new. We are in Zone 7, anytime between now and end of May, the heat of the summer, is a good time to plant. I would recommend adding low maintenance and inexpensive plants such as grasses, blue atlas cedar, boxwoods, hydrangeas and Leland cypress. Add blue hues, neutrals and texture throughout your home. Add a touch of spring vibe with a soft color pallet. Nothing overly dramatic or bright, soft and airy with light blues, stripes, textures like linen and woven material.
Add life to your front porch. The retail lines are rolling out all their spring lines, new furniture and decor and scents and textures. You don’t have to go wild, just a few touches to show someone loves this home. I would recommend a new wreath on the door and a new rug to wipe your feet at the outside entry. Lanterns bring an inviting flare. Setting out new planters or filling your old ones with spring flowers and adding an outdoor pillow or two is a sure way to get some looks. To go bigger, add new matching set of chairs to your front porch. love this chair from Sams Club
Smell of Spring - add hints of fresh linen, breeze or lemon scents. Think about what smells remind you of a clean home? That’s the one to pick. A favorite of mine is the Meyer’s Day Lavender Candle and Ever Spring Citrus and Basil and this one from floraco
